CIC President Gives Lectures on Security Sector Reform in Boston and Stockholm

CIC President Mark Sedra made trips to the Fletcher School of International Affairs at Tufts University and the Folke Bernadotte Academy in Sweden in March 2018 to deliver lectures on the issue of Security Sector Reform in Conflict-Affected Countries. While at the Fletcher School, Dr. Sedra also delivered a talk to a group of graduate students at the Center for Strategic Studies about careers in international affairs. His talk, titled “Forging a Career as a ‘Pracademic’: Walking the fine line between Academic and Practitioner Work”, reflected on his own career path.

After his talk at the FBA offices in Stockholm on March 19th, Dr. Sedra traveled to Sandö, Sweden to lead a training session on security sector reform for a group of policy-makers and practitioners from a range of international agencies and stakeholders from fragile and conflict-affected countries including: Somalia, Liberia, Colombia and Myanmar. It was part of broader course on security sector reform delivered by the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
