CIC Edmonton is one of the Canadian International Council’s 18 volunteer-run Branches, which, together, hold over 150 events nationally on a wide variety of topics that can range in format from casual Politics at the Pub discussions to expert panels and formal conferences.
With the CIC’s objectives in mind, the mission of the Edmonton Branch is to be a leading organization that promotes awareness of Canada’s foreign relations in Edmonton by fostering and supporting a diverse, knowledgeable and engaged international affairs community. The mandate of the branch is to provide an independent and non-partisan forum for open and thought-provoking dialogue for our local membership, academia, the business community and the general public.
Since re-founding in 2009, CIC Edmonton has hosted or co-hosted numerous events, with notable guests including a former Deputy Prime Minister, Alberta’s Deputy Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, private sector energy experts, Ambassadors and foreign diplomats. Events have ranged in format from pub nights, panel presentations, roundtable discussions, exhibits, and speed networking sessions.
